  • Battle Report: Sundown Malaysia 2014

After a long pampering days , here is my Battle Report: Sundown Malaysia 2014. My first hand experience travelling via flight out from Klang Valley to partake a running event.

    Pre-carbo loading

A day before of my trip, had a late resting hours due to mamak session after cell gathering. Woke up the following day right on the daily working clock (8am)  maybe due to my excitement for a far away running event even though my flight was at 2pm.

After preparing my gears prior to my trip, (I’ve kinda missed adding my GPS NIKE+ watch in the picture) . My uncle hitched me a ride to KLIA2. First impression on the airport was huge and spacious! even tho some of my friend over exaggerated that a requirement of walking distance from check-in counter to departure gate would take at least 40 mins. I’ve manage to snag a notice board showing different figures.

After a little exploring in KLIA2 I was kinda shocked when they were selling mineral bottle at the price of RM6.50!!!! wow crazy.. lucky there is water fountain for you to drink from. QUICK TIPS: bring empty drinking bottles via hand carry, so you could refill it up at the boarding gate from the free water fountain.

Best part of the flight was getting a random seat, which was actually a hot seat near the middle (which is actually emergency exit door) doesn’t matter. Due to its taboo sitting location, non of the other passengers sat the same row as me nor the row behind mine. So what did I do during the entire flight after took off?

After touch down, I tried to get a cab for a 10KM ride to my Motel, but the crazy taxi driver asked for RM40. I straight exited the cab and on the nick of time , my friend manage to drop by the Senai airport and offered me a ride. (thanks Haja!)

Motel was situated nearby a quite recent AEON shopping mall, where I manage to have my final carbo-loading session and head back for a quick shower and geared up myself for the run.

Apparently the event location was kinda new for my fellow Johorian friend as well and it was somesorta like a Putrajaya for Johor which consist of empty under develop lands. Manage to take a stroll at the new mall connecting towards LegoLand. So near yet so far, standing at the entrance of Legoland but unable to enter. (probably somewhere this year I shall adventure inside).

After taking the shutter bus to the race venue, we manage to explore a little of the stadium area, and i must say it is very quite a modern age structure stadium with awesome indoor court.

As the sunsets, the race starts where my friend and I started at the same pace, however half way through the first 1km where my friend said “see you at the Finish line”  That’s where we part ways . for 2 and a half hours the route was pretty dull except a nice pass through via some Istana .

Slow escalated route in addition didn’t really bothered me however I pancit around the 14km on the last water station where i manage to grab a huge bottle of Revive isotonic drink which totally spoiled my pacing. Overall a good run !! manage to finish it in 2hours 35 mins.

My new running shoe (Adios Boost) pretty much stayed loyal to my feet without any heating, or mushy feeling throughout the run. Kinda loving it.!!

Without sleeping after the event checked out at 4am from the motel and off to Senai Airport . After touching down back to KLIA2 I kinda crashed flat out on my bed once return home.  guess its pretty worth the trip over to obtain a finisher Tee and an awesome medal.

Totally forgotten about another famous run which I’ve registered. This would considered be my 3rd year of joining BSN night run. I was pretty impressed with the organizing team and management of the whole run.

Great atmosphere before, during and after the run makes a great time to enjoy the event as a whole, from school muscial bands, fire breathing-dancers, to some quirky superhero cosplayers, and not to forget cheerful crowds along the way of the route.

On the first event , they had bubble machine during crossing the Putrajaya mini bridge, sadly it was not there on the 2nd year however being replaced by a cabaret woman dancing with a DJ grooving some tunes on a mini DJ-console. I really hope they would bring back the bubble machine, to have that  dreamy feeling towards the finish line.

As for the goodies this year, all running mileage will be getting medals!! Yup thats right 5k, 10k, 21k and 42k will all be getting medals! Exclusive to 21k and 42k on the other hand would be getting finisher Tee and a sweet looking baseball cap

  • Brooks Half Marathon 2014

Yup, that’s right folks… as for one of my 2014 resolution, it would be stopping myself into partaking any more running events. Over the period of 365 days in 2013, I’ve ran about 15 events, that’s like more than a run events per month.

However due to my absence in the running scene for a month quite recently, well bad habit don’t die down eh? well I’ve enrolled once again for another half marathon organized by Brooks Malaysia.

The event will be held at Bukit Jalil, the same place where the event took placed this year as well… speaking of Brooks 2013 event, it was poorly organized with a puny trophy cup instead of a proper medal. Overcrowded runner in small path ways, bad P.A system, insufficient water stations, lazy design of finisher-t , and etc… which kinda tarnish Brooks name, but they did jump the gun and blame it on the organizing team instead.

    2013 swag

    Brooks apologize for marathon 2013 –  http://brooksmalaysia.com/2013/03/29/brooks-half-marathon-2013-report/

But let bygones be bygones, aside from the bad organizing this year, I’m hoping next year event would be far more decent due to its hefty price of RM 75!

Route is just the same like this year as well.

Anyway can’t complain much, will be doing this and maybe Penang Bridge run as well for 2014. So till then… peace out!

  • Boston Marathon 2013 Explosion

Just a heads up to all runners, families and friends please pray for the unfortunate as 2 explosion has occurred which was believed to be bombings. This is a sad day and for the Boston Marathon Event. My deepest condolence to the life being lost, and deepest sympathy for those that are injured.

so far 23 injured 2 deaths.

IMHO: i think this might be all planned for a greater master plan which might divert the attention of all police and authorities in Boston.

  • Adidas ENERGY BOOST 27 feb 2013 debut!!

Making its debut today, I was so anxious after my work and rush to pick up my partner in crime to dash to the nearest Adidas boutique. Low behold adidas boost !!! 😀

As for the design its very light, and looks like styrofoam. However, with closer inspection you can feel its pretty decent build up of 1000 energy TPE capsule bond together just like a regular EVA on most of current market running shoes.
My partner had a pair to try on, and the experience was an unexplained feeling however it snuggle pretty nicely on her feet. Thanks to the tech-fit technology and seamless design, this shoe can be worn without socks and as proclaimed should not be a blister maker.
Ka-ching, it goes for MYR 550, and my partner faster faster grabbed it :O
I’ve manage to snuggle one, however it wasn’t my size and it was a pretty tight snuggle on my US size 11 feet. Sadly furthermore, all the shoe of my correct size has been pre-booked or sold out!!! arrrggghh so sad… anyway stay tune for more updates tomorrow on the shoe.
Another sad fact is that, the online adidas store has 2 extra color variation and only ships to Singapore….

Oh yea and there is two more models of adidas coming out in August using the same mid-sole BOOST technology.
yup its Adistar Boost & Adios Boost , probably Sonic Boost will be around year end.

  • First 42KM achieved

completed my first full marathon run, on 18 November 2012 @ Penang Bridge. All I can say it was a superb experience.

I must say it was really mind blown by my own feat (also thanks to my partner which supports me through out this journey for success)

  • Project #42km

This year i’ve finally manage to took a feat which I always dreamed off, taking a full marathon event.

What is a full marathon ? its 42.195kilometer run which usually takes 6 hours or lesser to complete it. Thats like the distance from my house to Kuala Lumpur by foot.

Well today is my 3rd day of training. The sad part ever since I’ve enrolled to this event, my mom and girlfriend was very unsupportive. Seriously? from the two most person I love in this world and yet they pull me down straight away from my capability. How disspointing.

Yet to the few which was on my facebook page they been quite supportive and gave me motivation to persue this event 🙂 god bless you guys and many thanks.

my 1st day of training was a short 7km run around my neighbouring field.

and yesterday was my 2nd day with an extra 1.5km to my previous run. Seriously it wasn’t easy, the after effects from the 1st day soreness really demotivated me in doing my 2nd day run.

However with a do or die perception, i manage to pull myself together by god’s grace and ran my 8.5km last night. Regretting slightly on getting a US size 10 jogging shoe, my right side of foot had slight blistering due to the  tightness of the shoe.

well i guess today will be another day for me to challenge myself for more mileage, but at least 5km would do due to my total soreness from both of my legs. Manage to swap my running shoe for a US size 11 so I hope i dont get blisters today.

Consider this jogging session is a really marvelous time for me spending time with god on my mind and having devotional time with him.

will keep you guys update on my running sessions stay tune 😀 #42km
