Schema validator for JSON-LD and structured data
Check a live page or paste your JSON-LD. The validator reads every block, flattens @graph, and tests required and recommended properties for the types that matter in search.
Runs on our edge server; we fetch the public page once and do not store it beyond a 10 minute cache.
Method
How it works
URL mode reads each JSON-LD block, parses it, and flattens @graph so every entity is checked. Each
type maps to a rule set. A subtype such as Restaurant or Dentist uses the LocalBusiness rules.
Required properties are marked as failures when missing. Recommended properties are warnings. Values are checked for the right shape too, such as absolute URLs, parseable dates and three letter currency codes.
Paste mode runs the same rules on the text you paste, so you can test a template before it goes live. A pasted script tag is accepted as well as bare JSON.
FAQ
Questions people ask
Which schema types does the validator check?
Organization, LocalBusiness and its subtypes, WebSite, WebPage, Article, BlogPosting and NewsArticle, Product, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, Event, Person, Review, AggregateRating, HowTo and SoftwareApplication. The rules cite the Google Search Central structured data docs.
What is the difference between required and recommended?
Required properties are the ones Google rich result guidance lists as needed for that result. Recommended properties improve the result or help search engines match the entity. A missing required property can stop the markup from qualifying for the rich result.
Why is HowTo marked as deprecated?
Google stopped showing HowTo rich results in 2023. The markup is still valid JSON-LD and other tools can read it, so the checker keeps the rules and marks the type as deprecated.
Why does FAQPage carry a limited eligibility note?
Google shows FAQ rich results only for well-known government and health websites. Other sites can still publish FAQ markup so parsers understand the page, but should not expect the rich result.
Does paste mode send my JSON-LD anywhere?
No. Paste mode runs the same rules in your browser, so nothing is sent to our server. URL mode fetches the public page once through our edge server, the same way the other checkers work.
Does the checker validate microdata and RDFa?
It reports whether microdata or RDFa attributes appear in the HTML, but it does not validate them. Google recommends JSON-LD, so that is the format this checker validates in full.
