Method
How it works
Normalisation keeps the country code, drops a trunk 0, and removes every non-digit. A number typed with +, 00 or a different
country code keeps the code it carries. The result becomes the path in https://wa.me/.
The message is URL-encoded into the text parameter. A landing page link is tagged with the
same UTM rules as the UTM builder, so the predicted channel matches what GA4 would show.
The QR code and button snippet use only the link and label you see on the page. Images are created in memory and downloaded directly.

Questions people ask
Does this need a WhatsApp Business account?
No. A wa.me link opens a chat with any WhatsApp number, personal or Business. The person who owns the number still needs to reply from that WhatsApp account.
Why does the link need digits only?
wa.me addresses take the full international number as digits, with no plus sign, spaces, dashes or leading trunk 0. The normaliser turns what people type, such as 012-345 6789 with +60, into 60123456789.
Can the visitor change the prefilled message?
Yes. WhatsApp opens the text in the chat box, and the visitor can edit or delete it before sending. Keep the prefilled text short and specific so it reads naturally.
Does this tool store or send any data?
No. The link, QR code and snippet are built in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server. Once a visitor taps the link, the chat runs inside WhatsApp under its own terms.
Why add UTM tags to a WhatsApp message?
WhatsApp usually passes no referrer, so visits from a chat can land in GA4 as direct traffic. Tagging the landing page link inside the message gives those visits a clear source and medium, which the GA4 channel check then predicts.
How strict is the Malaysian mobile check?
It is a format check only. It confirms the 60, then 1 and a digit, then 7 or 8 digits shape of a Malaysian mobile number. It cannot tell whether the number is active. Other countries get a reminder to confirm the country code, never a block.
